Hanging Out in North Dakota

We managed to avoid most of the storms. Caught a small part in Illinois. I only had to pull off of the road for about a half hour, so it wasn’t too bad.

Made a few stops Saturday in Iowa. Spent the night in South Dakota. Unfortunately, the motel we stayed in was not good. It was getting dark and nothing was around. We finally found a small town in the middle of no where. Just our luck their motels were filled due to weddings and something going on with the local school.

The lady at one motel told me where the only place with rooms available was located. When I asked if it was clean, her response was, “Well it’s the only place around that has a room.” Oh boy, that should have been my clue. Yes, I did get a room. I am thankful to have had someplace to get off of the road. I am also thankful that the room did not have bed bugs. But, bed bugs was about the only issue the place didn’t have. 🙁

Sunday we had some fun stops in South Dakota. I have to say that I wish more towns and cities would take a look at Aberdeen, South Dakota. Aberdeen has really set the standards of what a park should be! To make it even better it is free unless you want to ride one of the two rides or the train; even those are cheap. I wish Aberdeen wasn’t so far away from where I live. If it was closer I would be taking my grand kids all of the time.

We arrived in North Dakota Sunday night. We are staying in a very tiny town in the middle of no where. Instead of leaving today, we decided to hang out another day.

At a later time I will tell you more details about this trip.

Back on the road tomorrow.
