This website continues to grow with attractions to see, things to do, and tips for making a road trip. I still have a lot to add!
I wish I could get everything up faster. But, again this is a one woman project. I don’t have anyone helping on any of this. I work countless hours; 7 days a week.
There are times that I wonder if I should continue. I do wonder how much use folks are getting out of the website. I know the site is getting a lot of visitors, but I’d love to hear how you are using the information.
A few times I came close to just shutting down the site. But, that is not something I can easily do. I feel such a passion for travel, spending time with family on road trips, discovering new places, and trying to help save roadside attractions from days gone by. There is so much to see and do across the U.S. I continue to find places that many don’t know about. I enjoy sharing all of these things with others.
Maybe all of these hours, by myself, sitting at this computer over the past several snowy months is just getting to me. I know it’s getting to be the time of year that I would normally be hitting the road on some adventure; making a road trip filled with memories to keep and share, discovering new places, meeting new people.
This year, may be different. Last year my van broke down on the road. No one thought it would ever make it back home. Thankfully, my husband was able to travel to where I was and get it running so I could drive it home. That all happened in June. Some how the van is still running. I know it’s a matter of time before it has to meet the junkyard.
Sadly, I know there will be no more road trips for my current van. I had hoped to replace it by now. So far I have not been able to figure out how to do that. This also leads me into a deeper issue.
If I figure out getting a new vehicle, my finances will be scrunched even more. That in turn makes me question being able to make a cross country road trip. I’m really not sure how I can afford it.
While some say the economy is getting better, some are not feeling it. Due to this, I have not been able to line up as many stops or work to help me cut my costs. At this point, I guess it is still up in the air as to if I will be able to be on the road this year.
How can you help?
- Tell Publisher’s Clearing House to show up at my door with a big fat check.
- Give me the numbers to win the lottery.
You can’t do that? 🙂 That’s okay!
There are ways you can help:
- Visit this website; visit often. Leave some comments and send me messages. Let me hear from you. Feedback is always helpful; even if it just to help me keep at it.
- Share my website with others.
- Use the website to plan some road trips of your own! Then tell me about your experiences.
- If you have an attraction and I haven’t listed it yet. Contact me. You may be on my list to add, but if not, maybe I can get you added.
I am also looking for ways to be able to afford making a road trip this year, so I can add personal experiences to the site. (Oh yeah that is an upcoming addition to the site I hope to get to soon!)
Things I need to have more of (these things are lining up slow this year):
— Keep in mind, I do typically travel with my youngest daughter (just became a teenager) and one or more of my grandchildren.—
- Attractions that want me to visit so I can add a personal view & blog about the experience. Contact me about making a visit, even if your attraction, motel, etc has been added, if you would like me to get some photos for you or want me to be able to make posts about personal experience of my visit.
- Places to stay so that I can save money.
- Places or attractions that would like for me to photograph their awesome roadside attraction, motel, or whatever they need photographed. If you are in need of this, contact me with what you want & what you are offering; cash OR especially in the case of small, struggling, or mom & pop establishments, cafes, attractions, motels, campgrounds, or whatever, what you would like to barter in exchange for photos (motel room, campsite, food, part cash- part barter, free entry to attraction, free tour). Talk to me. Tell me what you need and offer. I bet we can work out a deal!
Here’s to hoping everything starts falling into place! I want to continue to help people find fun things to do on road trips. I also want to continue helping attractions along the road by telling people about them.
